Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. As a person with Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents and family did this naturally. Maureen came to this loving haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by the family of her parents. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is her mom. She was an accomplished contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the renowned Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons made up this beautiful family. Maureen was a great athlete and played rough, athletic games as a child. Her ability to perform perfectly complemented her love of sports. It was evident when she was awarded every Feis for theatre and drama that Ireland had to provide. When she was in her 14th year she enrolled in an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study classical theatre and operatic vocals.
