Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was a fan of rough and athletic games as a child and was a pro in her sports. The passion she had for sport was coupled with the natural ability to being a performer. She was evident as she was awarded each Feis for theatre and drama that Ireland had to offer. In the year 14 she was admitted to the famed Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of studying classical theater as well as operatic singing. This course was to be modified, however, when Charles Laughton, after seeing an audition for a film of Maureen and was mesmerized by her hauntingly beautiful eyes. Laughton changed the name of Maureen FitzSimons to Maureen FitzSimons, to "Maureen O'Hara" it is a less slender version of her previous name. It was shortly before Laughton cast her in Jamaica Inn. Maureen FitzSimons' subsequent movie (The Hunchback of Notre Dame - 1939) was to be filmed in the studio of RKO Pictures in America under the terms of a contract with Laughton. Her contract with Laughton was bought by RKO after this epic movie was such a successful. Maureen Laughton had been featured in two major motion films by the time she was 19.
